You sound absurd. I've heard this point of view so many times, and I've yet to hear it said in such a way as to make it believable, as anything other than drivel written, theorized, or spoken by people who simply don't like monogamy, have had terrible experiences of watching one or two horrible parental examples, oh, and as a way to justify cheating. Which is it with you, or do you hide behind your easy "science", without the ability to stand out in front and tell your story, which I'd bet includes at least one of the scenarios I previously mentioned.
By the way, I don't think monogamy is for everyone one.
For real science look at the vast animal kingdom, where you'll find examples of both, and take it a step farther and see of the two lots, which groupings survive longer, have a better quality of life, etc...
Who knows, maybe you'll find more convincing- albeit prejudiced- info. to convince you and the other people that may need help figuring out what's wrong with their love lives and the lives of their children, you seem to think require 5 to 7 years for their parents to be together. Of course, at age seven, they too are ready to have mom and dad switch things up and bring other potential parental figures into their lives every five to seven years. Get help, and until then Have No Children.

http://eco-chick.com/2009/08/4216/high-fructose-corn-syrup-is-bad-for-your-kidney-liver-and-the-planet-but-can-be-funny-too/

I read this article and then looked at the Mayo Clinic page that you linked. The page is saying that HFCS is like sugar and is safe in moderation. It doesn't say anything about who is funding the 'studies show safe' research (as the context for the link implied). Just though you'd like to know.

Really interesting post. I'd like to hear more about your conclusion - what do you mean here?:

"But since all of this... is rendered meaningless when we only have a child or two, or maybe none at all."
